The families of young people lost after a devastating blaze at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting clues about their children online.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the fire, which killed 40 people and injured another 119. Officials noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to identify the final individuals.

In the interim, relatives have been posting on social media to request clues about their friends who were in attendance that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's horrific," she stated.

She explained that some of his peers had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through hell."

The Italian government has said that a number of of its citizens have not been located.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has indicated that a official announcement of his death is not yet.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and found himself at the bar.
